This sandwich feels good, too. It’s part of a “no-cook” dinner. We all have evenings when we wonder how the heck we’re going to have time to eat, let alone cook the food we’re going to eat.
Some folks decide to eat out when they don’t think they have time to cook. But, you know what? That takes time, too. Did you ever consider the time it takes to drive to a restaurant, decide what to eat, order, wait for it to be cooked, eat, wait for refills, pay the bill, and drive home? In the time it takes to do all that, you could fix a better and cheaper meal at home.
Our family rarely eats out. And when we do, it’s hardly ever at a fast food restaurant. Mostly because our small town has very few options. And even fewer good, somewhat healthy choices. This is why it’s so important for me to have a plan of attack before that crazy-time-after-school-before-soccer-volleyball-homework-mom-I’m-starving time of the evening rolls around. I’ve discovered that if we don’t have a dinner plan in place, things fall apart quickly! I end up getting flustered and decide to let my kids eat cereal before going out to run for 2 hours straight. Not good. Not good at all.
The moral of the story? Plan. Plan for the evening when there is no time to cook. Decide that the plan is to have a healthy and quick meal at home. Having a plan will help you get to your happy place. Hawaii. Go there.
But first, go to the grocery store and pick up a loaf of Hawaiian Bread, a rotisserie chicken, cheese, avocado, and anything else that sounds good to you. Now, don’t you feel better? I sure do.
