Madge’s Coleslaw

by Dinner Hero on February 13, 2013

Madge was my grandmother.  Love her.  Love her coleslaw.

She made this coleslaw a lot, but never using a recipe.  The recipe was just in her head.  And, on her fingertips as she taste tested the dressing each time she made it.

Fortunately, my sweet husband was smart enough to write down her recipe.  I have Marc’s handwritten notes that he made while watching her make the dressing one time in 2002.  I’m so thankful he did that.

Now, Grandma used a whole head of cabbage, which she managed to slice so super finely by hand.  My technique is not that good, so I just buy the prepackaged shredded cabbage.

{Sorry, Grandma!  I know you would have never done that!  We’ll discuss this one day when I meet you in heaven.}

For my family of 4, I half this recipe.  I use 1/2 bag of cabbage and 1/2 the dressing.
