Today was glorious. It was the first Saturday in a looooooong time that we were able to sleep in. As in – I ain’t got no place to be in the early morning hours on a Saturday so what am I gonna do with myself?!?
Somewhere around 10:00 am, Cooper came downstairs and asked if we could make breakfast. His request? Pancakes. We mixed up our favorite Buttermilk Pancakes and cooked a little bacon. Seriously, what could be better?
Well actually, sitting outside on our back patio eating pancakes and drinking coffee with my most favorite 10-year-old boy was the perfect way to start a relaxing Saturday morning!
We discussed the origin of every single scrape, bruise, abrasion, and wart on this kid’s body. Plus, I got to learn a few new tricks on his yo-yo.
I never know when these moments of “big time conversation” will occur, so I am happy to take advantage of them when they come. And, he was even happy to make my coffee for me.
Well, I better go take a nap so I can rest up for tomorrow. Gotta be on the volleyball courts at 6:30 am. While I’m there in the wee hours of the morning, I’ll think back on today and smile when I remember this leisurely Saturday in February. I’m not sure when this opportunity will roll around again.
