Have you ever wondered what to do with all those CD envelopes you have stashed away in your office supplies junk drawer?  How about making them into a fun Valentine’s Day gift?  Here’s how I made some really fun labels to attach to the envelopes.

JW Valentines labels2

To make these labels, I created two 8 x 10 files in Photoshop.  Then, using the rectangle marquee tool, I created a rectangle 8″ long by 2 1/2″ wide.  After that, I used a brush to “erase” the v-shape to one end of the label.  Next, I copied that shape 5 more times.  From there, I clipped in paper and embellishments from the I Like Love You kit by Design by Dani.  Once the files were created, I sent them off to Shutterfly for printing.  However, you could print at home if you like your printer (I do not like mine).

Notice that the “to & from” is placed up-side-down from the front design.  This is because this label will be folded and thus will be right-side-up once it’s on the back of the envelope.

JW Valentines labels cut out

Once the labels are printed, cut them out carefully using a paper trimmer and scissors.  Fold the label.  Head’s up – I did not fold mine in half.  Rather, the fold is at the point where 2/3 of the label is on the front, and 1/3 is on the back.

Gather your supplies: CD envelopes, cookies or other relatively “flat” treats, adhesive, and your labels.

Stuff your envelopes with your treats and personalize each label with a Sharpie or other permanent pen.  Finally, attach the label to the envelope with tape or other removable adhesive.

These are going to make great Valentines for a bunch of 13-year-old girls!

And they will LOVE the tasty treats inside, too!

Happy HEART day!
